The village or borgo of Rivalta grew up around the mediaeval Castle, so it too goes back to the 11th century.
The present houses go back in part to the 14th century and then later, in the 17th and 18th centuries, they were raised by a floor and modified.
The village is made up of the various buildings that surround the old church of San Martino (11th-14th centuries); there are actually twenty houses, some of them the homes of local people and others used by tourists.
